This episode showcases some of our favorite restaurants from our Seoul trip. Below, you’ll find a Google Maps link with the locations of these spots, as well as additional restaurants and bars we enjoyed but didn’t film. Please note, this was filmed in 2022, and I’ve double-checked that all the restaurants on the list are still in business. I’ve removed any that are no longer around.
Here are some other places that were noteworthy food gems from our trip to Seoul.
Namdaemun
Namdaemun Market is one of Seoul’s largest and oldest traditional markets, offering a wide variety of goods such as clothing, accessories, food, and household items. Established in the 15th century, it remains a bustling hub for both locals and tourists. The market is especially known for its affordable prices and vibrant street food stalls, featuring traditional Korean dishes like hotteok (sweet pancakes), tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and mandu (dumplings). It’s a must-visit for those looking to experience authentic Korean culture and cuisine.
Shin Tea House
Sinyet Chatjip (Shin Tea House) is a traditional tea house in Seoul, known for its cozy ambiance and authentic Korean tea experience. Located in the historic Insadong neighborhood, it offers a variety of herbal teas, green teas, and traditional Korean snacks like tteok (rice cakes). With its rustic wooden interior and peaceful atmosphere, it’s a popular spot for both locals and tourists to relax and enjoy a quiet break from the busy city, immersing themselves in Korea’s tea culture.
Okdongsik
Okdongsik Seogyo is a popular, minimalist restaurant in Seoul, known for its simple yet highly praised pork and rice soup (돼지국밥). Note: they only serve 100 bowls a day, once its gone thats it for the day. So get there early. Located in the trendy Seogyo district, it has gained a loyal following for its focus on high-quality ingredients and a clean, flavorful broth. The restaurant’s no-frills approach and limited menu offer an authentic and satisfying dining experience, making it a must-visit spot for Korean food enthusiasts looking for traditional comfort food in a modern setting.
943 King’s Cross
943 King’s Cross is a Harry Potter-themed café located in Seoul’s Hongdae district, designed to transport fans into the wizarding world. The café is filled with magical décor inspired by the famous Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, complete with themed drinks, snacks, and photo ops with props like wands, robes, and even Platform 9¾. It’s a popular spot for Harry Potter enthusiasts and travelers looking for a unique, immersive experience while enjoying themed refreshments in a whimsical setting.
Bar SookHee
Bar SookHee is a hidden gem in Seoul, known for its intimate setting and limited seating, making it a bit tricky to find and enter. Once you spot the sign, head through a small door and up the stairs. Reservations are recommended due to its popularity. The bartenders are knowledgeable, fun, and speak English, making the ordering process smooth. A highlight of the experience is their selection of unique Korean alcohol, which is both delicious and distinct, offering a special twist to the bar scene.
각 서울 · GAK Seoul
GAK Seoul is a hidden underground bar near the Cheonggyecheon stream in the Myeongdong district. Known for its quiet atmosphere and trendy cocktails, it offers a great spot to unwind after a stroll along the Cheonggyecheon. While the drink menu is impressive, the highlight is the food, which, though limited, is prepared with great care. The pasta, in particular, is a standout. If you’re looking for a cozy, stylish place to relax and enjoy good food and drinks, GAK Seoul is worth checking out.
